Today, the Alexander community broke ground on the Alexander Recreation Center that is expected to be completed next year.

The Recreation Center will be constructed in two phases over the next 14 months. The first phase, funded by the school district, will complete the exterior shell of the building and a Holzer family medicine facility to be occupied by Wayne Myles, D.O.

The second phase of the Recreation Center depends on private funding being raised by the Alexander Spartan Booster Club. According to Jeff Kelly, chairman of the Fundraising Committee, the club has raised approximately $100,000 of the total $600,000 to $800,000 needed to complete the interior of the Recreation Center, which will include two gymnasiums, a weight room, a walking track, restrooms, and other amenities.
